Upcoming New Year’s Events in Newfoundland
Happy New Year to my friends, family, colleagues, and especially my wonderful clients – I hope you’ve been enjoying a wonderful holiday season and are looking forward to a great new year. It has been my pleasure working with you, and I hope you have a truly joyous and successful 2014. Thank you for your trust and support, and I am excited to work hard again this year to help families and individuals find their dream homes.
If you’re looking for last minute plans, I’ve compiled a list of New Year’s events taking place in and around St. John’s this year. Please be safe tonight, and all the best.
Mount Pearl’s Family First Night Celebrations
Taking place on New Year’s Even from 4-6pm, this non-alcoholic family-oriented skating party emphasizes fun and participation. There will be music, prizes, games and more, and for admission they ask you bring a non-perishable food item.
North America’s First New Year
Come to Quidi Vidi Lake on New Year’s Eve, starting at 10:30 pm. Enjoy fireworks when the clock strikes midnight, as you’ll be the first people in North America to celebrate the new year.
New Year’s Eve Fun Run
Support the 4th Annual New Year’s Eve 5K Fun Fun in support of Basics for Babies, a local non-profit. Sign up to run yourself, or cheer on those who do.
Family New Year’s Eve Skate
The Town of Conception Bay South in partnership with Tim Hortons will be hosting this annual skate party. Bring a non-perishable food item to the Robert French Memorial Stadium from 5-pm, to enjoy Tim Hortons treats, prizes and a family skate. Fireworks follow at 7:30 at Sgt. Ned Nugent’s Park.
If you’re looking for something different this year, I also recommend what I think will be a stunning, romantic New Year’s Eve away from the crowds, at The Doctor’s House. You may remember that I’ve previously partnered up this fantastic Inn and Spa, just an hour outside St. John’s, for a contest this summer. Now that winter is coming on, their place is just as gorgeous, only more cozy, and their New Year’s Eve plans include gourmet lobster and prime rib dinner, live music from a popular local singer and guitarist, and champagne and fireworks at midnight. I know they have some special deals on spa packages and lodging at their nearby cottages that might be worth asking about. Learn more about their New Year’s Eve offerings here.
I hope you’ll enjoy a wonderful New Year’s with your family, and of course I wish you all the best in 2014. I look forward to another great year of helping families find their perfect real estate – and if you’d like to learn more about whether you can become a homeowner in 2014, I sincerely hope you’ll call me at 682.0744.
One Day Left of our Hanlon Pay It Forward Christmas
As we get nearer Christmas, our Hanlon Realty 12 Days of Christmas event is winding down. This is the 11th day that the staff and real estate agents in our office have pooled our funds to donate to deserving Newfoundland charities. Today’s recipients was The Gathering Place.
The Gathering Place is a non-profit organization supported by two Roman Catholic parishes and three Anglican parishes in St. John’s. In a caring environment, it provides meals for 80-125 men and women per day and social services such as advocacy, literacy education, and assistance with activities of daily living.
We’re grateful for all the work the Gathering Place does in our community, and we hope that our 12 Days of Giving will help spread the joy of giving. If you’d like to support the Gathering Place or be a volunteer, please see here. And if you have any questions about real estate in Newfoundland, please call me at 682.0744.
Hanlon Realty 12 Days of Giving: Day 10
The holiday cheer continues as the staff and real estate agents at Hanlon Realty continue to donate $500 to Newfoundland charities every day. It’s our Pay It Forward 12 Days of Christmas, and it’s been a lot of fun.
Today’s charity is the Community Food Sharing Association, which has become the pivotal agency for food distribution to the hungry in Newfoundland and in Labrador. This season is a time of plenty for so much of us, that we sometimes forget that so many in our community have great need. Thousands of people in this province, including children, don’t know where they’ll get their next meal. We’re so grateful for the work this organization does easing the struggles of the poorest in the province and feeding the hungry.
Hanlon Realty is hoping that our Pay It Forward event will help spread the joy of giving. I know it’s certainly brought joy to all of us here. To learn more about how you can help the Community Food Sharing Association, please see here, and as always, please call me at 682.0744 if you have any questions about St. John’s real estate.
Hanlon Realty Pay It Forward: Day 9
Once again, I’m happy to write that Hanlon Realty’s Pay It Forward 12 Days of Christmas continues, as our real estate agents and staff continue to pool our resources to donate to deserving Newfoundland charities. Today was Day 9, and we gave $500 to Bridges to Hope.
Bridges to Hope serves people in need in our community and never turns anyone away. With a food pantry, toy-lending library, community kitchen and Christmas Hamper program, they do so much to help so many, and we’re happy to be able to lend our support in this small way.
I find that, as a Newfoundland real estate agent, I spend so much time working with families that my concern for the community has only grown, and I know Hanlon Realty shares my sentiments. We hope that our Pay It Forward event is inspiring others to celebrate the joy of giving this holiday season. If you’d like to keep track of which organizations we’re donating to, please continue to check my blog (I’ll be updating daily), and if you have any questions about Newfoundland real estate, please don’t hesitate to call anytime at 682.0744.
Hanlon Realty Pay It Forward: Day 8
All the Newfoundland real estate agents and staff at Hanlon Realty are having lots of fun with our Pay It Forward 12 Days of Christmas event. Every day for the 12 days leading up to Christmas, we’re donating $500 to deserving local charities, and we’re really enjoying it.
Today was Day 8; our charity was the Macmorran Community Centre. This non-profit offers support and resources to members of the surrounding community, including after-school programs, career and employment programs, rental and gym space, public computer and internet access, fitness programs and an outreach house. We’re grateful for all the work they do in the community, and are happy to offer our support.
Hanlon Realty is working hard to spread the joy of giving. We announce our charities on Coast 101 each morning between 8:30 and 8:50, and we encourage everyone to celebrate giving and community. I’ll also continue to post about our selected charities each day, so please stay tuned. And I know with the hustle and bustle of the holidays, we have so much on our to-do list – if you have any questions about Newfoundland real estate on yours, please don’t hesitate to call me at 682.0744, or to check out the mortgage calculator on my homepage.
Hanlon Realty Holiday Pay It Forward: Day 7
It’s Day 7and the giving continues! My fellow Newfoundland real estate agents and staff at Hanlon Realty have teamed up this holiday season to give $500 a day to 12 deserving local, Newfoundland charities. It’s the 12 Days of Christmas, with a giving twist.
Today’s recipient was the Salvation Army Wiseman Centre, a 20-bed facility that provides temporary emergency housing to socially displaced homeless individuals. They also provide necessary supports for the resident with programs and services like Recreational Activities, Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, Life Keys Information Group, Spiritual Direction and an On-call Resident Doctor. Our donation is only a small way to support their good work and to say thank you for all they do for our community.
With our Holiday Pay It Forward event, Hanlon Realty hopes to spread the joy of giving, and I know it has certainly inspired me, too. Please stay tuned to my blog, as I’ll be announcing our charities each morning. I also ask that if you have any questions about Newfoundland real estate, as always, don’t hesitate to call me anytime at 682.0744 or by emailing mark@markglynnhomes.com.
Hanlon Realty 12 Days of Christmas Pay It Forward: Day 6!
All of the real estate agents at Hanlon Realty, myself included, are having lots of fun with our 12 Days of Christmas Pay It Forward event. Every day for 12 days, we’re donating $500 to local charities who do so much to help our Newfoundland communities.
Today’s charity is the Naomi Centre, which is an emergency shelter that offers safe and supportive temporary housing for young women between the ages of 16 and 30. You can read more about their work here.
At Hanlon Realty we’re hoping to spread the joy of giving this holiday season. Each morning you can hear our charity selections on Coast 101 between 8:30 and 8:50. I’ll also be sharing on the blog, so stay tuned.
And as always, I hope you’re getting ready for a fabulous holiday season with your family, and that you’ll call me at 682.0744 if you have any Newfoundland real estate questions. God bless.
Hanlon Realty 12 Days of Christmas Pay It Forward Going Strong
If you follow this blog, you know that I believe that real estate agents have a duty to contribute to the communities they’re helping to grow, and you also know that Hanlon Realty is having a super fun Christmas season, as we’ve begun donating $500 a day to local charities. It’s part of our 12 Days of Christmas Pay It Forward event.
Recipients these past few days have been the Virginia Park Elementary Kids Eat Smart Breakfast program, Marguerite’s Place, which provides affordable, fully accessible programming and supportive housing in a women-centered environment, and the Soup Kitchen at George Street United Church. All are organizations that are doing crucial work in our communities, and it feels great to lend our support.
Please check back on the blog to see who’s next on our list. We’re having lots of fun and hope the joy of giving will be contagious. And ss always, if you have any questions about Newfoundland real estate, I hope you’ll get in touch.
Hanlon Realty 12 Days of Christmas
Celebrating the Hanlon Realty 12 Days of Christmas Pay it Forward Event!
It’s a busy time of year, and I’m proud to be part of a Newfoundland real estate company that does so much to help our local community. From now until Christmas, Hanlon Realty is putting our own spin on the 12 Days of Christmas, and it’s a great reminder of the true meaning of the season.
We have selected 12 locally based, not-for-profit organizations that do wonderful work in our community, and we will be giving $500 to one each day for the next 12 days. The organizations will be announced every morning on Coast 101.1 FM between 8:30 and 8:50 so tune in to see who will be receiving a little extra in their stockings this year. I’ll also be keeping you posted here on my blog, so stay tuned!
So far, we’ve given to Planned Parenthood, an organization that provides resources and education for the entire province, and the Holy Cross Junior High School Breakfast Program, which since 2000 has provided breakfasts for an average of a third of the student body every day. Below, you’ll see the students getting a visit from Santa.
Hanlon Realty encourages everyone to celebrate giving. Again, I couldn’t be more proud of the work my colleagues are doing, and I hope it inspires us all to be more generous. As we get close to Christmas, I hope we can all take time to do more for our families and communities, and I hope you’ll check back to see which charity we pick next. And as always, if you have any Newfoundland real estate questions, don’t hesitate to call anytime at 682.0744. And God Bless Us, Everyone!
