Own a special piece of Newfoundland history in the picturesque town of Brigus. Built in the early 1800s, Brookside was purchased by Captain Samuel Bartlett circa 1875. This charming duplex-style home, made of ship’s wood, has been in the Bartlett family for five generations. Captain Samuel, uncle to the famous arctic explorer Captain Robert (Bob) Abram Bartlett, was a famous explorer in his own right. As one of the first Newfoundlanders to earn the prestigious Certificate of Competency as Master of Captain, he skippered the Neptune, which at one time could be sailed right to his back door.
